Véritable emblème de notre production nationale, la laiterie-fromagerie de Draa Ben Khedda fut créée en 1971, dans le cadre de l'Office National Algérien du Lait et des Produits Laitiers (ONALAIT) et de ses 3 offices régionaux (ORELAC. ORELAIT. OROLAIT). Son objectif premier était de répondre au développement et aux besoins laitiers de la wilaya de Tizi-Ouzou. En 1997, les 3 offices régionaux fusionnent pour donner naissance au Groupe Industriel de Productions Laitières (GIPLAIT)
